MADRASA CONSTRUCTION IN TANZANIA
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
In its ongoing efforts to promote religious education and instill strong moral values among Muslim children and youth, the African Relief Organization – Tanzania continues to provide vital support in the construction of madrasa across various regions of the country.
Since the launch of this initiative, the organization has partnered with Muslims in regions such as Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Lindi, Mtwara, Tanga, and Dodoma to construct Qur’an centers. Many madrasa institutions have benefitted from improved infrastructure including classrooms and mosques.
Speaking at the inauguration of a madrasa project in Dar es Salaam, a representative of the organization said:
"Religious education forms the foundation of a moral society. We believe that supporting children and youth with proper learning environments for Qur’an and Islamic studies is a significant investment in the future of our nation."
With the support of donors from the people of Kuwait, the African Relief Organization has been at the forefront of supplying Qur’an books, and providing stipends for madrasa teachers. This forms part of the organization’s long-term commitment to supporting social and religious development in underserved communities.
The organization also emphasizes community participation in each project to ensure that the madrasas become sustainable learning and character-building centers for generations to come.
To date, over 700 madrasa schools have been built with support from the donors, benefiting thousands of children across Tanzania who now have access to quality Islamic education.
